An eleven-year-old in Amory is in custody at a juvenile detention center after he allegedly threatened a man with a gun.
An unidentified Amory homeowner brought the juvenile to the Amory Police Department Friday night and told officers that the child had held him at gunpoint and demanded money, according to a press release the APD posted to its Facebook page. The homeowner reported that the juvenile had arrived at the man’s Eighth Street residence at about 6 p.m. and asked for a ride home. During the ride, the 11-year-old allegedly pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the driver and asked for money.
The man told police he wrestled the gun away from the child and then drove him to the police department.
The case is pending in Monroe County Youth Court, the press release stated.
