Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Starkville man for a domestic violence incident on Thanksgiving.
Demorial Logan, 28, of 74 Rooster Lane, allegedly jumped on, beat and choked a family member, prior to the date of the arrest.
According to affidavits from the Lowndes County Justice Court, a deputy with the LCSO and an officer from the Starkville Police Department responded to a domestic dispute call in Starkville, where the victim told them Logan had assaulted her at her Lowndes County residence.
She said Logan saw her texting on her phone and became angry when she wouldn’t give him the phone or the password, according to the affidavit. She told the officers Logan began punching her and choked her, but she did not lose consciousness.
Logan told law enforcement that he and the victim had been drinking and that she asked him to leave the house, according to the affidavit. He said they fought, and he hit her but that he did not choke her.
Deputies took Logan into custody on Russell Street in Starkville. Logan was charged with domestic violence aggravated assault. He has been released from custody after posting $20,000 bond.
