A man critically injured in an alleged hit-and-run earlier this month has died.
Christopher Ross, 33, of Columbus, was pronounced dead on Saturday morning at North Mississippi Medical Center, Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant confirmed.
Ross was hit by a car on Nov. 9 in the 700 block of 19th Street North near Sim Scott Park. He was airlifted from Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle to the hospital in Tupelo later that night.
Columbus Police Department arrested Willie Broshawn Moody III, 45, of 299 Black Creek Road for allegedly intentionally driving his car into Ross after the two argued.
Moody was initially charged with aggravated assault manifesting in extreme indifference to life.
Authorities have not yet returned calls to The Dispatch confirming what the new charges will be. But charges and bonds in these kinds of cases have historically been upgraded said Joe Dillon, City of Columbus public information officer.
Moody remains in custody at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on a $200,000 bond.
