WEST POINT — One suspect is in custody and West Point police are searching for a second in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store Monday morning.
Nolli Hediria Neal, 25, of 503 Black Diamond Road was arrested not long after allegedly robbing the Exxon convenience store on Main Street at about 6:20 a.m., according to a West Point Police Department press release.
A store clerk told officers two black males, at least one of whom had a handgun, demanded cash during a routine purchase shortly after the store opened. The two suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and the cashier’s wallet.
Officers found and arrested Neal after residents in the area reported seeing a suspicious vehicle. His bond is set at $125,000.
“The quick response of officers but more importantly the willingness of area residents to share information with officers led to a quick arrest in this case,” Police Chief Tim Brinkley said. “This exemplifies the effectiveness of police services when the community is fully involved.”
Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the second suspect should contact the WPPD at 494-1244 or the Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151.
