A Columbus man was hospitalized after a Friday evening motorcycle accident.
City Public Information Officer Joe Dillon said the victim, 44-year-old Shawn Stallings, was injured when his motorcycle collided with a Nissan Avalanche pickup near the KFC on Highway 45.
The accident occurred at about 6:45 p.m., Dillon said, at the intersection of Highway 45 and 31st Avenue. He the motorcycle ran into the truck’s passenger side as the truck was turning onto 31st Avenue.
The victim was non-responsive and in critical condition after the wreck, Dillon said. He said witnesses noted the motorcyclist did not appear to be speeding.
He said police at the scene reported the motorcyclist sustained head injuries and was taken to Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle after receiving treatment at the scene. From there, the victim was flown to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
