An Oktibbeha County woman died Saturday night after the silver Ford Mustang she was driving ran off of Artesia Road and crashed into a culvert.
A sheriff’s office press release said the vehicle caught fire after the 10:50 p.m. accident. A concerned citizen heard the collision and removed Ashley Jackson, 21, from the vehicle before she was burned, according to the release.
Once first responders arrived, their attempts to resuscitate Jackson failed, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s department is investigating the cause of the accident.
