Two Oktibbeha County men are facing additional arson counts in Clay County, according to a sheriff’s office press release.
Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday it would charge Jason Williams, 42, and Daniel Easley, 38, with arson in connection to a November 2015 fire at West Point Stockyards — a livestock sale barn located on Highway 45 Alternate. Both were previously arrested on arson counts for a June fire that destroyed a home on Tribble Road.
No bonds were set for the two men, the press release said, and they are awaiting their first appearances in Clay County Justice Court.
These are the latest charges in what Sheriff Eddie Scott previously told The Dispatch is an “arson for hire” investigation. He said more arrests could follow.
Deputies on Monday arrested 72-year-old Thomas E. Williams of Pheba, who Scott believes was “the broker” for the operation. He faces arson counts in both fires.
Last week, deputies also arrested Michael Tribble, 54, of Cedar Bluff, in connection with the Tribble Road fire.
Anyone with information regarding this ongoing investigation is asked to contact Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 662-494-2896 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151.
