The Columbus Police Department is searching for a local man in connection with a stolen vehicle and burglary of a commercial business.
At about 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, CPD officers received a call from the owner of a stolen vehicle, according to a press release from the CPD. The owner, whose vehicle was stolen July 31 from Highway 69 South, reported seeing it in the parking lot of a salvage business on Gardner Boulevard.
When police arrived at the scene to recover the vehicle and apprehend suspects, the driver, Edward Jones, 35, of 245 Marshall Dr., fled on foot.
Police arrested the passenger, Tiffany Short, 27, of 530 Fellows Rd. She has been charged with possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance, according to the press release. Her bond was set at $10,000.
Anyone with information on Jones’ whereabouts is asked to contact CPD at 662-244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crimestoppers at 1-800-530-7151. Jones may be driving a white 2008 Z-71 with a tag number LT5 574. That vehicle, the release said, was stolen from a business Monday on Redi-Mix Road.
