Two Columbus men are facing robbery charges following an early morning incident today at the Motel 6.
Columbus police arrested John Davis Williams Jr., 20, of 1214 Highway 45 N., and Arsenio Martez Reynolds, 26, of 1404 Old Aberdeen Road, shortly after the reported robbery, city Public Information Officer Joe Dillon told The Dispatch.
Two black men approached the victim, who was standing outside a first-floor room at the motel located at 1203 U.S. Highway 45, and asked for a ride, Dillon said. After the victim refused, Dillon said one of the men forced his way into the victim’s hotel room and stole some money while the other man stood watch at the door. Then the two suspects fled.
Dillon said the victim was uninjured. By press time, he did not know whether the victim was male or female.
The two suspects are in Lowndes County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings.
This was the second reported robbery at the Motel 6 in Columbus in less than a year. In December, two suspects — a male and female — reportedly robbed a couple staying there at gunpoint.
