After a bout of spring cleaning at Beard’s Antiquities on 5th Street in Columbus, the fine antique store has begun moving to its new location. Beard’s Antiquities and Furniture is located at 248 Chubby Drive and plans to be open by mid-August with a grand opening in the fall.
John and Jeanette Beard purchased the 24,600 square foot property from the Robertson CECO Corp. in May. The building is being renovated to accommodate four businesses: Beard’s Antiquities, Game Time Athletics, Heritage Drapes by Lauren Stokes and Southern Land and Home Real Estate.
In addition to fine antiques and accessories, Beard’s will carry Magnolia Home Furniture by Joanna Gaines and other lines of new furniture.
“We are excited about the opportunity to carry Magnolia Home Furniture at our new building as we blend antiques, rugs and accessories with exciting lines of new furniture.” Jeannette Beard said, “I will continue to operate my interior consultation and decorating business out of the new location.”
Recently, Beard’s Antiquities was named “Best Place for Fine Antiques” by Mississippi Magazine for the second year in a row.

In addition to selling various music equipment, Jerry’s will soon offer sound system checks and music lessons. Tentative operating hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Owner Jerry Norris said he’s willing to match prices against mail orders where he can.
