A Columbus Police Department officer was involved in an altercation at the McDonald’s on Alabama Street at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
CPD Assistant Chief Fred Shelton would not release the officer’s name but said both parties involved in the altercation had only minor injuries.
No charges have emerged.
Chief Oscar Lewis ordered a full investigation into the incident, and the officer in question is on paid administrative leave. Authorities believe the altercation was over a personal matter and not directly duty-related.
The incident began after the officer signed out on the radio to speak with someone and occurred in the parking lot, according to a CPD release.
CPD released no additional details on the incident.
