A Brooksville man wanted on numerous charges, including escaping from the back of a Starkville Police Department cruiser, turned himself in to authorities without incident Thursday.
Andre Taylor, 29, of Brooksville, reported to law enforcement after contacting the U.S. Marshal Service, a SPD release states.
He was served warrants for escape, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and petit larceny.
Taylor’s bond was set at a combined $17,500, and he was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail.
His initial appearance in court was set for 6 p.m. July 18.
Taylor was briefly detained Saturday after the vehicle he was traveling in was pulled over for driving the wrong way on Maxwell Street.
He escaped from the police cruiser while SPD officers were speaking with the driver and searching the vehicle.
Officers initiated a foot pursuit but were unable to catch up with Taylor.
Anyone with information about any criminal cases is asked to contact SPD at 662-323-4131 or the Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151.
