A Starkville man was found dead in an Oktibbeha County pond Thursday.
Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt said Lakendric Bishop, 19, of 125 Bishop Rd., was found dead about 7:25 a.m. in a pond just south of Starkville.
Bishop’s mother found his body, according to Hunt.
Authorities received a call about the incident about 7 a.m. and responded to the scene, which was on the east side of Highway 25, Hunt said.
Hunt said Bishop’s body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy. No foul play is suspected.
Lt. Brett Watson, an investigator with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office, said he hopes the autopsy will point to the circumstances surrounding the teen’s death.
An investigation is ongoing.
