Columbus authorities were able to locate an 80-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease Saturday after he walked away from a Highway 45 North hotel.
Walter Wallace walked out of the Hyatt Place about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to city officials. He subsequently left the hotel property on foot. His family, after searching unsuccessfully for him for several hours, notified authorities for help.
City officials took to the Columbus Police Department’s Twitter account to ask for the public’s help in finding Wallace, who is from Illinois.
He was ultimately found “alive and well” in the 400 block of Seventh Avenue South, several miles from the hotel, according to city press release.
