East Mississippi Community College Counseling to Career (C2C) Counselor Yulanda Haddix has spent decades working with at-risk youths. Her efforts were recognized when she became one of five finalists in North Mississippi nominated for the 2016 Jefferson Awards for Public Service. The finalists for the award sponsored by CREATE, Northeast Mississippi’s Community Foundation, were honored at a banquet last month at the BancorpSouth Conference Center in Tupelo.
Haddix was nominated for her work with youths at the C2C program at EMCC, the Boys and Girls Club of the Golden Triangle and the Starkville Mayor’s Youth Council. During the banquet, Haddix was presented with a $250 check for the Boys and Girls Club, a certificate and a gold medallion to commemorate the occasion.
