Two people sustained life-threatening injuries Thursday in two separate car accidents.
The first accident occurred just after 7 p.m. in Monroe County on Highway 45 North at the intersection of Central Grove Road, according to a press release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Authorities say a Nissan Altima tried to turn across the highway and hit the driver’s side of a Chevrolet Silverado traveling north.
The driver of the Nissan, Kimberly N. Caldwell, 42, of Nettleton, was airlifted from the scene to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She had suffered life-threatening injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to MHP.
The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet were also transported to NMMC with moderate injuries.
Another driver was airlifted to NMMC after a one-vehicle accident about 11:45 p.m. Thursday in Lowndes County near Mayhew.
Mark Craddock, 27, of Starkville, was driving a Pontiac Firebird traveling east on Highway 182 when the vehicle ran off the highway near the East Mississippi Community College campus. The Pontiac collided with an embankment and rolled, coming to rest on its roof, according to MHP.
