Fred Shelton, assistant chief with the Columbus Police Department, dressed as the famous architect of many Lowndes County bridges, Horace King, hands out books to West Lowndes Elementary School on Tuesday. Assisting Shelton at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library was Kathy Howard with 4-County Electric Power, which donated $500 recently to My Book of Lowndes County for the purchase of two books to be given to each of the elementary school students. The students pictured here are, from left, Antonio Rice Jr., 9, son of Deidra Robinson, of Crawford; Jay Sanders, 8, son of Robert and Rhonda Sanders, of Columbus; Abigail Black, 8, daughter of Brittany Black, of Columbus; and Kaley Cox, 8, daughter of Kenisha Cox, of Columbus.
