An Amory man died at the scene of an accident on Mississippi Highway 278 Thursday morning, according to a press release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Clifton Lake Tubb, 35, of Amory, was driving a white 1994 Honda Accord east on MS 278, the release said. The Honda collided head-on with a white 2000 Ford pickup after drifting into the westbound lane on the east end of the Buttahatchee River Bridge at about 9:45 a.m.. Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley pronounced Tubb dead at the scene.
Tubb was not wearing his seatbelt, according to the release.
The driver of the pickup, Almon Daniel Gann, 67, and his passenger Dwayne Freeman, 71, both of Hamilton, Alabama, were both transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle with nonlife-threatening injuries.
MHP is still investigating the accident.
