Long-time 16th Circuit Court Judge Jim Kitchens has qualified as a candidate for a spot on the Mississippi Supreme Court.
Kitchens, now in his fourth term as circuit court judge for Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Clay and Noxubee counties, joins Columbus attorney John Brady in the race to replace Ann Lamar, who announced earlier this year that she would not seek another term on the state’s high court.
One of three 16th Circuit Court judges, Kitchens began his law career in 1992. Prior to his election as circuit court judge, he served as an assistant district attorney in Lowndes County from 1996-2002.
The election will be held in November.
