JACKSON — A federal judge has sentenced a 42-year-old man to 18 months in prison for tampering with a consumer product.
U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis, in a news release Tuesday, said U.S. District Judge Daniel P. Jordan III also ordered Alfred Thornhill of Sontag to pay $1,000 in restitution.
Thornhill worked at a dairy farm near Crystal Springs, Mississippi, when he poured chlorine, acid and bleach into a stainless steel container of milk right after it had been collected from the cows on March 28, 2014. The toxic chemicals were discovered in the milk by the farm’s owner just before it was to be transported to a distribution center in New Orleans.
Thornhill later confessed to poisoning the milk because he was angry at the dairy farm owner.
