A Thursday morning accident on Highway 45 Alternate sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson Criss Turnipseed said the accident occurred about 7:45 a.m. when a pickup headed south on the highway collided with an 18-wheeler turning off Artesia Road into the north bound lane, Turnipseed.
The driver of the pickup, Jeremy Hester, 38, of Hamilton, was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. As of Thursday afternoon, he was in stable condition, according to Donna Grant, hospital spokesperson. Hester is from Hamilton, Mississippi.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
Turnipseed said the accident was probably due to poor visibility because of the thick fog Thursday morning.
