A house on 10th Avenue South in Columbus has been destroyed in a fire.
Authorities from the Columbus Police Department and Columbus Fire & Rescue responded to the fire about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters at the scene battled the smoke for about half and hour. The fire was out at approximately 10 a.m.
The home was a rental house, according to Julia Burgin, who identified herself as the owner’s wife. Burgin said she and her husband were renting the house out but the people who currently rented it were in the process of moving out.
Burgin said the house was a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
