It’s never too early to think about Christmas.
Main Street Columbus certainly has been. The group announced that this year’s Christmas Parade will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12.
The theme for this year’s parade is “A Fairy Tale Christmas” and will feature an eclectic group of characters ranging from Humpty Dumpty to Frozen.
With a fairy tale theme, it is only appropriate that this year’s marshal will be Mother Goose, played by Edwina Williams.
The volunteer Parade Commission is encouraging children’s groups and community organizations to participate in the parade with floats, dancers and walking groups that follow the Fairy Tale theme. The parade will have competitive and non-competitive categories.
“Think everyone can have a lot of fun with this year’s theme,” said Main Street director Barbara Bigelow. “Who doesn’t have a favorite fairy tale?”
Children K-5th grade can once again submit their work into the Holiday Art Contest. Winners will be allowed to ride in the parade.
Applications for the parade and art contest can be sent to the Main Street office at 107 5th Street North or by calling 662-328-6305.
