Two people face aggravated assault and prostitution-related charges after a man was shot at a Starkville hotel Friday.
Officers responded to Regal Inn about 3:56 a.m. after a disturbance at the hotel’s parking lot was reported.
At the scene, officers discovered Jessie Orlando Carpenter, 35, of Starkville, had been shot in the arm prior to law enforcement’s arrival.
Carpenter’s injuries were not life threatening. He was transported by ambulance to OCH Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released to into Starkville Police Department’s custody.
Carpenter was charged with procuring a prostitute and aggravated assault. Also arrested was Kareema Lashae Ward, 21, of Starkville. She was charged with prostitution and aggravated assault.
Both suspects’ bonds were set at $5,000 per aggravated assault charge and $500 per prostitution-related charge.
They were both transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail, where they were booked and processed.
