Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle has received the American College of Cardiology’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) ACTION Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2015. The hospital is one of only 319 hospitals in the United States to receive the honor. The award is based on how well the hospital followed guidelines for treating heart attack patients. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that Baptist Golden Triangle has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
To receive Platinum status, Baptist Golden Triangle consistently followed the treatment guidelines for heart attack patients for eight consecutive quarters and met a performance standard of 90 percent compliance for meeting specific performance measures including administering aspirin upon arrival and discharge; the timely restoration of blood flow to the blocked artery; smoking cessation counseling; and cardiac rehabilitation, among other measures.
“This award is another proud achievement for our hospital. It reflects the hard work and dedication of the staff that care for some of our most seriously ill patients,” said Baptist Golden Triangle Administrator Paul Cade. “The consistent implementation of these quality measures requires successful coordination between our cardiovascular team at the hospital and our EMTs out in the field and is a critical step in saving the lives and improving the outcomes of heart attack patients,” he added.
