TUPELO — SeaPort Airlines has agreed to end its passenger service in Tupelo.
Tupelo Regional Airport officials tell the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal the airport board cited poor performance problems since service began last October as the reason for asking the airline to drop local service within 90 days.
Withdrawing from Tupelo means service would end sometime in November.
The U.S. Department of Transportation will seek another airline for Tupelo.
SeaPort’s subsidy, through the Essential Air Service program, paid the airline $2.5 million annually to provide 30 round trip flights between Tupelo and Nashville and Tupelo and Memphis (12 flights).
