For the second time in less than a year, former Mississippi State football player Justin Cox was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
The second incident occurred in Starkville on Monday afternoon. Along with the aggravated domestic violence charge, Cox is being charged with burglary of a residence and trespassing, according to an Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s press release.
The alleged incident occurred at Aspen Heights Apartments on Blackjack Road. Authorities responded to a call about 1:05 p.m., and Cox was later arrested in his hometown of West Point with assistance from the West Point Police Department.
The current Kansas City Chief is being held in the Oktibbeha County Jail and is expected to be arraigned and have bond set today.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence and burglary of a dwelling last November, but those charges were dropped. MSU suspended him after the arrest, and he missed the final two regular season games and the Orange Bowl. He played in 21 games for the Bulldogs, after making his way to Starkville from East Mississippi Community College and West Point High School.
His name was not called in the NFL draft, but in May he signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent.
