Leon Kelley has been selected by his peers as the most recent employee of the quarter at North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point. Kelley is a fitness assistant and certified personal trainer with the wellness center. He joined the NMMC-West Point staff in March 2007 after working 19 years at Bryan Foods. A graduate of F. O. Alexander High School in Starkville, he attended Mary Holmes College in West Point and Jackson State University in Jackson. He earned his personal training certification in 2014.
“Leon has a smile on his face 365 days a year,” his nomination states, noting that members often mention him on satisfaction surveys. He was also cited for consistently going above and beyond. “On his own accord, he washed all the facility’s windows and cleaned out all the planters, which took several days,” another nomination states. “He fixes equipment and waters the plants.” He also helped new runners achieve their dream of finishing a 5K by running with them and encouraging them.
“My job gives me the opportunity to give back in a special way, making our customers feel better about being healthy,” Kelley said. He is married to Katrina Kelley and has three children–Morgan Kelley, Corbin Kelley and Techeria Jenee Jenkins. He is a member of Gospel Temple MB Church, where he serves on the deacon, male ministry, financial and transportation boards.
