GULFPORT — A grand jury will review a complaint that a Perkinston man threatened a federal agent with a metal pipe when the agent visited the man’s farm headquarters.
The Sun Herald reports 48-year-old Harvey Parden was arrested this week on a criminal complaint he threatened and intimidated Special Agent Alan Kennedy of the U.S. Department of Agriculture on June 9.
The agent had gone to Parden’s farm headquarters to serve a show-cause order against Parden’s son Arizona Lee Parden. The complaint said the son is under investigation regarding a USDA-mortgaged property, which it said the son was “converting.” It did not give details on the probe.
U.S. Magistrate Judge John Gargiulo gave Parden a $25,000 bond on Friday.
Court records did not list an attorney for Parden.
