The grand opening for the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market is Saturday.
The market, at the corner of Second Street and Second Avenue North, will be open from 7 to 10 a.m. each Saturday throughout the growing season and offers locally grown produce. It will also offer market goers a variety of handmade crafts, baked goods and children’s activities, according to Main Street Columbus executive director Barbara Bigelow. Main Street Columbus oversees the market.
“There are so many reasons to visit your local market,” Bigelow said. “Buying direct from the farmers not only helps to keep you and your family healthy but helps our local economy as well. Also, the market provides a chance to talk face to face with those who grow the food. We are reminded of the hard work that goes into getting produce from the farm to your table.”
