A West Point woman is facing charges of exploitation during her employment at a Columbus nursing home.
Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood announced Wednesday that 30-year-old Roshanaun McFarland has been arrested following an indictment for exploitation of a vulnerable person at a long term care facility in Lowndes County where she worked as a nurse’s aide.
McFarland turned herself in to the Lowndes County jail on Tuesday after an indictment from a Lowndes County grand jury, according to a press release from Hood’s office.
She faces allegations of taking a patient’s Social Security debit card to withdraw money for personal use without the patient’s permission while working as a nurse’s aide at Vineyard Court Nursing Center in Columbus.
McFarland posted $5,000 bond Tuesday.
If convicted, she faces a maximum of 10 years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
Vineyard Court Nursing Center staff declined to comment when reached by The Dispatch on Wednesday.
