Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center announces the addition of Cathy Mitchell, BSN as director of nursing services. Cathy attended the Itawamba Community College in Fulton, where she obtained her associate of science in nursing in May 2001. Cathy received her bachelor of science in nursing from South University in Georgia in November 2010. Currently, Cathy is pursuing her master of science in nursing administration and post graduate certificate in nursing education from the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas. She anticipates graduation in February 2015. Cathy comes to Gilmore from Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville, Alabama, where she was employed as chief nursing officer since April 2013. Cathy was previously employed by Northwest Medical Center located in Winfield, Alabama for eight years. Cathy began as a staff RN of various units and house supervisor. During her tenure at Northwest Medical Center, Cathy held various leadership positions including the following positions: assistant chief nursing officer/director of surgical services, program director of wound care and hyperbaric medicine center and assistant chief nursing officer/infection prevention/employee health.
