Three people are now behind bars after a Starkville Police Department investigation into a Sunday shooting yielded two additional arrests.
Officers were dispatched to 200 Hartness Street at 11:09 p.m. Sunday after emergency dispatchers received reports of shots fired in the area.
SPD first announced that 21-year-old Derrick Devante Young, no address provided, was charged Monday with two counts of aggravated assault and arson. Two others — 28-year-old Anthony Philip Nicastro, no address provided, and 24-year-old Shanika Alexandria Clayton, no address provided — were also arrested after officers continued their investigation, SPD announced in a Tuesday release.
Both Nicastro and Clayton were charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of attempted arson.
Young’s bond was set at $600,000 in Starkville Municipal Court, while Oktibbeha County Justice Court set Nicastro’s and Clayton’s bonds at $600,000 and $300,000, respectively.
SPD released no further details on the Sunday incident or subsequent investigation.
