A teen accused of murdering his neighbor and then setting her house on fire has been indicted for arson and capital murder.
Traveil Hicks, 18, was indicted by a Lowndes County grand jury for the August death of 46-year-old Gwen Roberson. Roberson’s mobile home was less than 50 yards from Hicks’ home on Downs Road. Hicks was 17 years old at the time of the alleged murder.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant on Friday declined to release Roberson’s cause of death to The Dispatch saying he has not yet received a final autopsy report.
Hicks is being represented by public defender Steve Wallace. His court date is set for Feb. 23, 2015. If convicted of capital murder, Hicks faces life in prison.
