Six people were arrested after a police officer allegedly discovered cocaine and marijuana in a vehicle during a traffic stop last month.
According to Captain Brent Swan with the Columbus Police Department, on Oct. 24, an officer initiated a traffic stop on Alabama Street after he saw driver Benny Harris, 20, not wearing a seatbelt. A bag containing less than one gram of powdered cocaine was found inside the vehicle as well as several bags of marijuana, according to Swan. Harris, of 412 13th Ave. S, and his five passengers were arrested on scene.
Shenea Gallop, 21, 412 13th Ave. S.; Myron Jennings, 22, of 500 Greentree Drive; and Melvin Summerville, 23 of 454 Summerhaven Drive, were each charged with felony possession of cocaine.
Altezo Davis, 23, of 405 E Gaywood Ave., and Javonte Holloway, 22, of 613 Forrest Blvd., were each arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Swan said the charges could be elevated once the case is presented to a grand jury.
