The Columbus Police Department is asking people to join them for “coffee with a cop.”
The event, which will be held at Buffalo Wild Wings on Thursday, will serve as a way for officers and the community to get to know each other, Chief Tony Carleton said.
“There are no speeches or presentations planned,” Carleton said in a press release. “This is an opportunity for me and my staff, as well as the police officers, to meet with the public minus the agenda. The benefits fall right in line with our core values of service, responsiveness, integrity and professionalism. We are committed as servant leaders to meet the needs of the citizens and our fellow employees.”
He added, “We are so excited to be hosting this event.”
October’s event at Buffalo Wild Wings will hopefully be the first of many, the chief said. He hopes other businesses offer to host the event.
“We are fortunate to have local businesses in the area that are willing to make this commitment to their police department, especially in an economy like this,” he said. “I am open to any local business that would like to supply a location and coffee for this event. This is a long-range plan for us here at CPD. We would like to have this Coffee with a Cop event monthly throughout the city.”
Coffee With a Cop will take place Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Coffee will be provided.
