Two Columbus brothers have been arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana.
Tymechie Hairston, 24, and Willie Hairston, 22, both of 325 Warren St., were arrested Monday by agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Division, according to commander Archie Williams. The arrests were a joint effort with the Columbus Police Department, Williams said.
According to Williams, a warrant officer went to the Warren Street home to execute an arrest warrant for Tymechie Hairston for failure to appear.
While the officer was inside the home, he noticed an AR-15 assault rifle with the serial number filed off. A search warrant was obtained and agents seized marijuana plants, prescription pills and marijuana, Williams said. The pills included oxycodone, morphine and oxycontin, according to Williams.
Two pistols and the AR-15 assault rifle were also seized.
The brothers were each arrested and charged with four counts of felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and one count felony manufacturing marijuana.
Tymechie Hairston and Willie Hairston each received a bond of $45,000. They both bonded out of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on Wednesday, according to jail records.
Each has a Feb. 9 court date.
