CRYSTAL SPRINGS, Miss. — A Maryland couple is being reunited with their lost pet with help from Copiah County residents.
Last Friday, Kristal Martin and her boyfriend made the 15-hour journey from Gaithersburg, Maryland to Crystal Springs with their dog, Abbey, in the backseat.
Martin says when they arrived at a family member’s home, the owner’s dogs, although friendly, came running toward Abbey, frightening her and causing her to run into nearby woods.
The couple had to make the journey home Tuesday without Abbey.
Family members took to Facebook to find the 5-year-old pit bull. Martin tells WLBT-TV that Copiah County residents who spotted Abbey Thursday had a hard time catching here, until a thunder clap sent her running into a rescuer’s car.
The couple is returning to Mississippi to get Abbey.
