A Columbus pawn shop was an unwitting participant in a sale of stolen goods, according to Columbus Police Department Public Information Officer Glenda Buckhalter. Rings and Strings, located at 2116 Hwy. 45 N. purchased several thousand dollars of stolen music equipment and a small enclosed trailer. The equipment was recovered from Rings and Strings by deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
Police reports said the pawn shop purchased the equipment on August 4 from Derrick Henley, who is being sought by law enforcement in connection to the crime. Rings and Strings has filed charges against Henley for allegedly selling them the stolen merchandise. The local pawn shop has not recouped its money from Henley.
The incident is under investigation by CPD and the NCSO.
