The Columbus Planning Commission recommended a permitted use request for two new businesses on Monday. Genesis Church, 1820 23rd St. N was recommended a permit to operate a child day-care center in an area zoned “R-1” or single-family residential district.
The commission also recommended a permit request for The Last House On The Block, a halfway house for men. The recommendation is to allow the halfway house at 206 Tuscaloosa Road, which is zoned for commercial properties.
“The commission unanimously approved these requests to go before the Columbus City Council for final approval on July 13,” Columbus Building Official Kenny Weigel said. “The commission is going to also make a recommendation to allow adult and child day cares in residential areas with commission approval.”
