In honor of all dads this Father’s Day, the Columbus Cultural Heritage Foundation will offer free double-decker bus tours of historic Columbus Sunday, June 17, at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
“This will be an opportunity for children and families to do something different and special with dads, to do something together,” said Nancy Carpenter, executive director of the Heritage Foundation and the Columbus Lowndes Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Carpenter will serve as guide for the tours, which will last 45 to 50 minutes each and depart from the Convention and Visitors Bureau parking lot at 117 Third St. S.
All dads on the tours will be entered in a drawing for a pair of tickets to one of Mississippi State University’s home games this fall.
Seating for tours is limited; advance reservations are encouraged.
Through Friday, call the Columbus Cultural Heritage Foundation office at 662-329-1191 to make reservations. If calling Saturday, contact the Tennessee Williams Home and Welcome Center, 662-328-0222.
“People are absolutely welcome to come out Sunday without a reservation to see if there are seats available,” remarked Mandy Hannon of the foundation.
“This would be a great Father’s Day gift, especially for anyone on a budget,” added Carpenter. “It’s a way to strengthen relationships and at the same time become a tourist in your own city. Hopefully you will learn something about Columbus that you did not know, or had forgotten.”
