The Columbus Police Department is investigating an alleged Wednesday morning shooting. An officer was dispatched to 300 Holly Hills Road, Rivergate Apartment Complex, at about 12 a.m. in reference to shots fired. The officer spoke with a male resident who pointed him in the direction of the shots. The officer also spoke with residents near the area, who stated they heard the shots but could not give any other information. .380 caliber casings were found and collected and were given to the investigations department.
The CPD is also investigating the following:
n An officer Wednesday was dispatched to 2200 10th Ave. S. in reference to stolen property. Rafael Jenkins said his house had been broken into. Jenkins said he was in the process of moving on Saturday around noon and left around 2 p.m. He said when he returned Wednesday morning, he noticed his front door was unlocked. There were no signs of forced entry. He noticed his Amana washer and dryer were missing. Two pedestals, valued at $90 each, were also missing from the kitchen.
The total value for all of the missing items is $1,655.00, Jenkins said.
n Officers Wednesday were called to Dollar General to with speak District Store Manager Gary Foster. Foster stated on May 15 at around 9 p.m., a white male entered the store and broke into the office. The suspect, once inside the office, went through an employee’s purse, removed the wallet from the purse and allegedly left the office. Foster said the suspect returned and broke into the office again, the following day. The suspect was allegedly seen on video going through the office.
n An officer was dispatched to 413 East Gaywood Road Wednesday in reference to a possible burglary of a home. An Xbox 360, five Xbox games, three Xbox controllers, a Playstation 3, five PS3 games, two PS3 controllers and five red Polo shirts were missing from the home.
n Officers were dispatched to 1017 Moss Street Wednesday regarding the possible burglary of a home. Charlene Stork said the house is unoccupied and she came to check on it to see if the grass needed mowing. When she went inside, she noticed that the back door had been pried opened and two lawn mowers were missing. One of the mowers was new and she estimated the value at around $130. The other mower was used, valued at around $50.00.
