Shots were fired Tuesday night, within audible range of one of Columbus’ busiest family attractions. About 8:15 p.m., several gunshots were heard at Propst Park, leaving many to think the shots were fired in the park area. Columbus-Lowndes Recreation Authority Executive Director Roger Short this morning dispelled the rumors.
“The shots were not fired in Propst Park,” Short said. “This happened in the neighborhood (Seventh Avenue North and Waterworks Road), behind the park. When we heard the shots, we pulled all of the children playing ball off the fields, until the police said we were clear to resume our activities.”
The shooting was confirmed through the Columbus Police Department. No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
