The Columbus-Lowndes Dev elopment Link will be adding new staff members in the coming months.
Link CEO Joe Higgins Friday confirmed Melissa Cook is no longer employed at the Link, where she served as vice president of the chamber division, but declined to release additional details.
“Since this is a personnel issue, I cannot comment further,” he said. “However, I can assure you that we do not expect the Chamber division to miss a beat. We are currently taking steps to identify a replacement for this position, and I would expect that we will have a process in place to identify her replacement in the next few weeks, if not sooner. During the interim, her duties have been divided among the Link’s existing staff.”
Also, in January, the Link agreed to represent the West Point-Clay County Growth Alliance and hire someone under the Link umbrella to specifically recruit industry for West Point and Clay County. The Growth Alliance will pay the Link $350,000 annually for the next three years for its services.
“We will soon be finalizing our plans to add an additional economic developer that will serve the Link’s West Point/Clay County commitment, and I expect that staffer to be on board July 1,” Higgins said. “The Columbus-Lowndes Development Link continues its ambitious plans to help grow the Golden Triangle’s economy.”
