A Columbus man was arrested April 6 in connection with an alleged shooting. Jimmie Cantrell Tate, 24, of 108 Miley Loop, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
“Deputies responded to a call of an alleged shooting,” Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Investigator James Farris said. “The caller said (Tate) had shot three times into the window of their vehicle. Tate was on foot when we found him.”
Tate did not have a weapon on him when he was arrested, Farris said.
An initial court date and bond for Tate are pending.
In another matter, Christopher Lee Gray, 34, of 154 Priscilla Circle was arrested April 5 and charged with kidnapping. He was found, with his victim, at Shelaine’s Motel in Aberdeen.
“We had a 911 hang up call around noon on Wednesday, April 5,” LCSO Investigator Ryan Rickert said. “Later that day, we received some more information and the (U.S.) Marshals went to Aberdeen and picked them up.”
Rickert said the incident was of a domestic nature. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was treated for minor injuries.
Gray remains in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
The following were arrested by LSCO and Columbus Police Department:
Eileen Patricia Comer, 52, of 2150 Lone Oak Road in Steens, was arrested by LCSO on April 4 and charged with false pretense. She was released on a $2,500 bond. Her initial court appearance is May 14.
Taquanda Mercedes Hooks, 21, of 501 Brooks St., was arrested by CPD on April 5 and charged with possessing contraband, four counts of shoplifting third offense and two counts attempted robbery. Her initial court appearance and bond are pending.
Maria Celestine Dent, 44, of 320 N. Lehmberg Road #18, was arrested by CPD on April 6 and charged with improper equipment and possession of cocaine. Her bond was set at $5,231. Her initial court appearance is pending.
Maurice Lorenzo Smith, 54, of 1614 3rd Ave. N., was arrested by CPD on April 6 and charged with possession of cocaine. His bond was set at $5,000. His initial court date is pending.
Michael Rush Sims, 44, of 212 7th Ave. N., was arrested by CPD on April 6 and charged with taking of a motor vehicle and unarmed carjacking. His bond was set at $10,000. His initial court appearance is May 17.
Lee Vance Drummer, 50, of 165 Shelby St. in Beulah, was arrested by LCSO on April 6 and charged with grand larceny. His bond and initial court date are pending.
Eric Davis McPherson, 34, of 4180 Hwy 373, Lot 293, was arrested by LCSO on April 9 and charged with child abuse. His bond and initial court appearance are pending.
Patricia Hudson Hamby, 67, of 119 McDavis Road, was arrested by LCSO on April 9 and charged with false pretense. She was released on a $2,5000 bond. Her initial court date is pending.
Tierra Sashay Malone, 23, of 1066 Crowe Road, was arrested by CPD on April 9 and charged with aggravated assault with extreme indifference. She was released on a $5,000 bond. Her initial court appearance is pending.
