The Columbus Lowndes Recreation Authority is two community centers away from finishing its neighborhood parks projects.
Director Roger Short announced the Sim Scott Community Center will have its grand opening Monday at 4 p.m.
The authority met in regular session Monday at its Propst Park office.
Short said he planned to do a walk-through at the Townsend Community Center on Tuesday. He expects a grand opening in two weeks.
The final project, the Crawford Community Center, should open Feb. 1, he said.
Work on eight projects began in November 2010 with a $1.6 million budget. Through parks and community centers, the authority operates classes, camps and senior citizen programs. The facilities also are used for family and community events.
Completed projects are the Anderson Grove Community Center, East Columbus Gym, New Hope Community Center, Northaven Woods Park and Charles Brown Basketball Pavilion.
