A Starkville man was arrested Saturday and charged with sexual battery after using the Internet to lure a minor into sex. Oktibbeha County sheriff’s deputies charged Jason R. Carson, 20, of 414 Hancock Circle, with one count of sexual battery, one count of dissemination of sexually oriented materials to a minor, and one count of computer luring of a minor for sexual purposes after the minor’s family members made a complaint to the OCSO.
Deputies responded to the call at the 1800 block of 16th Section Road and from there uncovered the computer-related materials during their investigation, OCSO Commander Brett Watson said.

Watson, citing state law, declined comment about any pictures or videos that were uncovered. Watson said the family of the girl didn’t indicate how long they think the contact between Carson and the minor took place.
Carson was arraigned in Oktibbeha County Justice Court and is free after posting a $50,000 bond. His next court date is unknown.

The OCSO made the following felony arrests from Nov. 29-Dec. 4:
