Aside from a Black Friday shopping incident, Columbus police responded to a couple of additional disturbances during the early hours of this morning.
Police said a fight broke out in the parking lot of McDonald’s on Highway 45 North about 2:30 a.m.
Santonio Wilson, 19, of Lexington, Ky., and Corey Cockrell, 19, of 421 Woolbright St. in Columbus, were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct.
Sgt. Glynn Culpepper said a number of juveniles were at the location and taken into custody for breaking curfew, which is midnight.
“They were all released to parents at the police department,” he said, noting they were not charged and he does not know of how many people were involved.
“From what they were telling me, there was a large crowd at McDonald’s. I think they just grabbed who they could grab.”
Police also responded to a fight that broke out at around midnight inside La Fogata Grill, a Mexican restaurant at 201 Alabama St.
“They kind of tore up the club and broke chairs and tables,” Culpepper said.
Police said the only arrest made was Dathan McCoy, 32, of 601 N. Gaywood Ave. in Columbus for public intoxication.
“I think they had some people injured but never could figure out who was fighting,” Culpepper said. “By the time they got there, some of them had left.”
Ambulances responded to the incident.
