Jack Cristil is a busy man these days. The much-anticipated biography, “Jack Cristil: The Voice of the Bulldogs” is just off the press.
Beginning Saturday and continuing prior to Mississippi State’s two other home football games, Cristil and author Sid Salter will sell the sign the book about the legendary sports broadcaster.
The 224-page hardcover edition covers both the life and broadcasting career of the Tupelo resident who provided football and basketball play-by-play coverage over a nearly six-decade career.
Printed by Pediment Publishing, the 224-page hardcover edition, which sells for $39.95, also comes with a free compact disc of the radio veteran’s greatest Bulldog football and basketball game calls.
The book’s release has generated a flurry of book signings and activity for Cristil, he confirmed by phone from his home in Tupelo Thursday morning.
“This is just the beginning, so I have no idea what the end result is going to be, but I’m pleased if the (book) pleases the people of Mississippi.”
Named Mississippi Sportscaster of the year a record 21 times, Cristil was the first person inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame who was not a coach or athlete.
Cristil and Salter will be set up under a tent adjacent to the MSU Alumni Association tent in the Junction. The tents are located just south of the Davis Wade Stadium ticket office. Cash, check and debit/credit cards are accepted.

This weekend, the duo will be at the site from 9 a.m. to kickoff of the 6:30 p.m. Homecoming game between MSU and the University of Tennessee at Martin.
