Columbus police arrested Jamie Clyde Sullivan, 29, of 947 New Hope Road in Columbus, and charged him with sexual battery Tuesday.
According to Interim Columbus Police Chief Selvain McQueen, the incident happened Saturday at the John C. Stennis Lock and Dam in Columbus. The victim was test-driving a vehicle and was with Sullivan, a local car salesman, when they stopped at the location.
“The victim alleges she went to the local dealership to test-drive a vehicle. They were test-driving and she went into the restroom at the Lock and Dam, and the salesman followed her in there and allegedly sexually assaulted her,” McQueen said.
Sullivan turned himself in Tuesday morning, McQueen said.
The charge is a felony. The preliminary court date and bond has not been set. The maximum penalty for sexual battery is up to 30 years in the state penitentiary and a fine of no more than $10,000.
